Millsap not worrying about free agency : Even though forward Paul Millsap knows he may have played his final game in a Jazz uniform, he insists he is not stressing out about the prospects on being a free agent. "I’m not a psychic. I don’t know,’’ Millsap told the Deseret News when asked if he would back with the Jazz next year. “ I've got to wait and see what happens. I’m going to rest and be with my family. I don’t even want to imagine that.’’

Most don't think the Jazz will be able to keep both Millsap and Al Jefferson, so there is a chance his days in Utah may be numbered. The 28-year-old saw a dip in his production this past season as he averaged 14.6 ppg and 7.1 rebounds, which is nearly two rebounds and points less than he averaged during the 2011-12 campaign. Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on where Millsap lands over the summer. As long as remains a starter, owners should plan on scooping him up somewhere in the early-to-middle rounds of most formats next fall.

| After turning in a breakout season during the 2010-11 campaign there was some concern that Paul Millsap's production would regress some last year. However, that was not the case at all. The 27-year-old averaged 16.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while seeing around 33 minutes per night over 64 games for the Jazz. While he failed to shoot at least 50 percent from the field for the first time in his career, Millsap continued to fill up the stat sheet as he averaged 2.3 steals, 1.8 steals and nearly a block a game, which helped him finish as the ninth-highest scoring forward, in terms of Fantasy points in all standard formats, ahead of players such as Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Garnett and Carlos Boozer just to name a few. Despite the additions of Mo Williams and Marvin Williams, Millsap be once again counted on to be one of the focal points of Utah's offense in the paint. He has already proved he can co-exist with Al Jefferson and therefore should be considered a solid No. 2 Fantasy forward heading into next season. Owners should consider scooping up the former Louisiana Tech University standout with an early-to-mid round pick in most formats. Just keep in mind with Millsap in the final year of his contract the Jazz could try and trade him in the middle of next season if they fall out of contention. (Updated 8/22/12) |
