Novak ruled active for Game 2: Knicks forward Steve Novak was ruled active for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Pacers Tuesday night. Novak, who was forced to miss Game 1 due to back spams, failed to score in the 105-79 win. He missed his lone field-goal attempt and did not stat during his five minutes of game action. | Fantasy Analysis |
Novak only took the court in garbage time Tuesday night, which seems to suggest he may not be at 100 percent quite yet. While the 28-year-old did see his scoring take a hit during his second year in New York, Novak connected on 42.5 percent of his shots from behind the arc and gave owners 1.8 made treys per game. Still, because Novak doesn't really offer much to owners other than 3-point shooting, his value will be once again limited to deeper category-based formats heading into next year. (Updated 5/7/13). |
| After floating around the league for five years, Steve Novak finally found a true home with the Knicks, emerging as the finest three-point specialist in the league. 83.6 percent of his attempts came from long range last season, and he led the NBA with a 47.2 percent mark from three-point range. Still, at 28, Novak does not have much room to improve his game, so the 8.8 points per game he averaged last season probably represents a high watermark, making him more of a Rotisserie specialist heading into the season.
