Rondo triples up in return from suspension: Celtics guard Rajon Rondo made up for lost time on Friday, putting up the sixth postseason triple-double of his career, with 17 points, 12 assist and 14 rebounds in Game 3 of the first round of the playoffs against the Hawks, to lead the Celtics to a 90-84 win. Rondo, who missed the second game of the series after being suspended for bumping into a referee, played 49 minutes in the overtime game, shooting 7 of 22 from the field, while adding four steals and six turnovers in the game. Fantasy Analysis
Rondo did not miss a beat after missing the game, extending his double-digit assist streak to 26 games going back to the regular season. It was a good sign to see him put the suspension behind him and focus on the game, and now hopefully this will be the end of the distractions for him in the playoffs. Rondo should be considered a high-end Fantasy option in all postseason formats now. (Updated 05/05/2012).

Jrue Holiday scored 20 points, and Elton Brand had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the tough-and-determined Philadelphia 76ers past the Celtics, 82-75 on Wednesday night to send the Eastern Conference semifinals back to Boston for Game 7.
Sure the Celtics have the Big Three of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, but Rondo is the team’s top Fantasy option hands down. The point guard from Kentucky will enter 2011-12 with the same ammunition he had last season, but is a year older and wiser at 25. Although Rondo posted one of his lowest career scoring averages at 10.6 points per game last year, he reached a career-high with 11.2 assists and 2.3 steals. The biggest question surrounding Rondo heading into the season will be the health of his elbow. Minor injuries have plagued Rondo and he only saw time in 68 games last year. Still, one of the NBA’s best young point guards, Rondo is easily a No. 1 Fantasy guard. He’ll be a nightly double-double and may be asked to improve offensively with the Big Three all one year older. Rondo should come off the board before Round 4 at the latest in all Fantasy drafts. (Updated 8/23/11)
