The Portland Trail Blazers won't immediately restart their search of a new general manager now that the NBA lockout appears to be at an end. Blazers President Larry Miller says that instead, the duties will be handled as a team, with himself, owner Paul Allen and interim GM Chad Buchanan calling the shots.
Brandon Roy stunned the basketball world last week when he decided to retire due to re-occurring knee issues. The Blazers then exercised the amnesty clause on the 27-year old, which took his salary off their books and allowed the team to sign Jamal Crawford. Roy ends his career with career averages of 19 points, four rebounds and four assists. He was just one year removed from being one of the top players in the league, but his knees simply couldn't hold up to the rigors of being a professional athlete. In an interview with Yahoo.com, Roy's agent Greg Lawrence made it abundantly clear that Roy's retirement is a permanent one. “Brandon has no intention of returning to professional basketball,” he said. “He has been instructed by several doctors that he has a career-ending injury and needs to stop playing immediately.
