Thomas back in Bobcats' sights: Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas was active for Friday's game against Oklahoma City, but didn't make an appearance, the Charlotte Observer reports. Thomas has not played in the past 14 games as the team has wanted him to continue his knee rehab in Charlotte. (Updated 3/9/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Thomas has appeared in just 18 total games this season and posted lowly averages of 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds. The 26-year-old has been devastated by injuries in recent seasons and failed to play more than 55 games in each of the past three seasons. Thomas is hardly a reliable option at this point and should be ignored in most Fantasy formats. (Updated 3/9/13). |
| Tyrus Thomas was definitely in contention to be awarded biggest Fantasy bust after the season he turned in last year. The 25-year-old just couldn't seem to get anything right as he struggled with injuries, playing time and even had several spats with some of his former coaches during the course of the year. When all was said and done, Thomas averaged just 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds -- his lowest output in both categories since his rookie season. He shot a career-worst 37 percent from the field and infuriated coach Paul Silas so much, that he averaged just 15 minutes per contest over the final 30 games of the season. However, the Bobcats decided to clean house this offseason and bring in a new coaching staff and personnel as the team tries to build toward the future. That hopefully means a fresh start for Thomas, as well, who will enter the season healthy and ready to compete for minutes at power forward with Bryon Mullens and Bismark Biyombo. While Thomas was once considered a viable option in most formats due to his ability to fill up a stat sheet, he will need to prove himself before being trusted in the majority of leagues again. Consider the former LSU standout nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve heading into next season. However, based on his upside and how bad his production was last year, Thomas could very easily wind up being a very nice sleeper option. (Updated 8/22/12) |
