Fantasy Analysis
Afflalo made his return to the lineup and picked up right where he left off prior to his suspension. The 26-year-old has been surging in March and is averaging 17.3 points per game this month, his highest output of the season. With the playoffs now here in most leagues, owners should continue to roll with Afflalo in the majority of formats moving forward. (Updated 03/26/2012).
05/13/2012 01:32 Gasol, World Peace help Lakers outlast Nuggets, advance to Western semis
Pau Gasol had 23 points, 17 rebounds and six assists, Metta World Peace scored 15 points in his return from a seven-game suspension, and the Los Angeles Lakers outlasted the Denver Nuggets for a thrilling 96-87 victory in Game 7 on Saturday night to win their first-round series.
05/09/2012 01:45 Nuggets survive late rally, edge Lakers
Andre Miller scored 24 points, including two free throws with 12.8 seconds left, and the Denver Nuggets survived Kobe Bryant's late scoring barrage in a 43-point performance, avoiding playoff elimination with a 102-99 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 on Tuesday night.
Despite playing in a career-low 69 games last season, Afflalo burst onto the Fantasy scene in the games he did play. Averaging 33.7 minutes per game and starting all season, Afflalo, a defensive specialist, put up career highs in scoring, rebounding and assists with a 12.6/3.6/2.4 line. Pretty much everything Afflalo did last season ended up in a career high for the former UCLA standout. That said, we are not sure the 26-year-old has giant upside for an improvement. He’s certainly not going to be one of Denver’s top options in the offense and we don’t see a huge increase in production from the fifth-year player. His numbers waned a bit once Denver added depth after trading Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony. Afflalo should begin getting Fantasy consideration on Draft Day in the later rounds as he’s considered just inside the top 50 Fantasy guards heading into the season. (Updated 8/28/11)
