|Report: Arron Afflalo headed back to Denver |
|by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com|
(6/26/14) Orlando looks to be maneuvering for a roster overhaul, as Yahoo Sports reports that the Magic will send guard Arron Afflalo to the Nuggets in advance of Thursday's NBA Draft.
The deal is said to include Denver's Evan Fournier and a second round pick. This move is likely an attempt to clear space for flexibility needed in future deals.
Afflalo enjoyed a career-year in Orlando, averaging 18.2 points per game on the season. He played three seasons in Denver prior to arriving in Orlando. Afflalo also has a player option for the 2015-2016 season.

(3/25/14) Magic guard Arron Afflalo struggled to get going Tuesday, in a 95-85 win over the Trail Blazers.
Coming off a three-game stretch that saw him average 18.7 points per game, Afflalo stumbled to finish with just 10 points in 34 minutes Tuesday. He shot 3 for 9 from the field and 4 for 5 at the free-throw line, while also turning the ball over five times. He added five assists and three turnovers, his third game in a row with at least five assists.
Afflalo is putting the finishing touches on the most productive season of his career, while seeing his scoring average increase for the seventh straight year. He is averaging 19.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in 63 appearances.

Afflalo is enjoying the most productive season of his career, so it was good to see him play well in his return from injury. He is averaging a career-high 19.7 points and 3.6 assists per game.

(3/3/14) Magic guard Arron Afflalo is likely to return to action Wednesday after missing the last five games with a sprained right ankle, NBA.com reports.
"It gives us two days in between games and we’ll take advantage of that, making sure he’s confident and 100 percent when he comes back," coach Jacque Vaughn said Sunday.
Afflalo scored 32 points in his final game before sitting out with the ankle injury. He has averaged 19.7 points, 3.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds through 53 games.

(3/2/14) Magic guard Arron Afflalo was ruled out for Sunday's contest at home against the 76ers, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Afflalo has missed his fifth straight game with a sprained ankle. He is averaging 19.7 points, 3.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds through 53 games.
The Magic are back in action Wednesday against the Rockets.
|We all expected a breakout season from Arron Afflalo, who was set to be the Magic's top option on offense after showcasing an expanding skill set with the Nuggets the previous year. And, while he did average career highs in scoring (16.5 points per game) and assists (3.2 per game), he also coughed up 2.2 turnovers per game and shot just 43.9 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from three-point range. The Magic obviously do not consider Afflalo to be part of their long-term rebuilding efforts, as the drafting of Indiana shooting guard Victor Oladipo shows. While Afflalo should stay with Orlando this season, expect a reduction in his playing time, down from a career-high of 36.0 minutes per game last season. Afflalo should still get plenty of shots for an Orlando team that could struggle to score, but we're expected at least a bit of a step back. Consider targeting him in the middle rounds on Draft Day.
