Fantasy Analysis
The Nuggets have a right to match any offer Chandler receives when he does return, and Denver has already expressed interest in re-signing the 24-year-old once he becomes available, so it always appeared as if he would return to them. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how things play out over the next few weeks, but it appears he will be returning to the team where he averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks with last year. Those are solid numbers, so Chandler should become a prized pickup off the waiver wire when he becomes available. (Updated 02/08/2012).
10/12/2011 15:05 Carmelo concerned game for Denver return won't happen
The first big night of the NBA season, barring further cancellations, would feature Carmelo Anthony's return to Denver. The Knicks' All-Star doesn't want to lose that one, but is concerned there may not be basketball at all this season.
Chandler will not play in the NBA in 2011-12 as a result of signing a deal to play in China. Unlike other countries who left an open-door policy for NBA players to play overseas during the lockout, the Chinese Basketball Association would only allow players to come over to the NBA who committed to play an entire season in China. So while Chandler worth stashing in long-term formats, he will not be of use to Fantasy owners in any seasonal leagues. He was having a career season in New York last year as he averaged 16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game with almost two 3-pointers per contest over his first 51 games. His numbers did not stay at that lofty level after being traded to Denver, however. In his final 21 games with the Nuggets, of which he started 19, Chandler was down to 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.2 3-pointers per game while playing nearly five minutes less per contest.
