Grizzlies make signing of C Marc Gasol official

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7/13/15) The Grizzlies have made official the worst-kept secret in the NBA. That is, the signing of center Marc Gasol to a multi-year deal.

Gasol averaged a career-high 17.4 points and 7.8 rebounds in 33.2 minutes per game last year in helping his team into the Western Conference semifinals.

He did not negotiate with any other team as he expressed immediately in the free agent process his desire to remain in Memphis.

Report: Grizzlies C Marc Gasol signs five-year contract

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7/6/15) Blossoming Grizzlies center Marc Gasol claimed he was not interested in joining any other team - and he proved it Monday by signing a five-year deal worth more than $100 million to remain in Memphis, league sources have told Yahoo Sports.

Gasol proved consistent and productive last year in placing himself in the NBA Most Valuable Player conversation. He averaged 17.4 points and 7.8 rebounds in 33 minutes per game during the regular season before leading them into the Western Conference semifinals.

He stepped up his fine work in the playoffs, averaging 19.7 points and 10.3 points in 11 games while attacking the basket aggressively enough to average eight foul shots per game.

Report: C Marc Gasol only interested in returning to Grizzlies

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(6/30/15) Grizzlies center Marc Gasol will not meet with other teams and is set to return to Memphis, league sources have told ESPN, which is reporting that he has already met with team officials to discuss a new contract.

Gasol is coming off his finest season, during which he was in the discussion for NBA Most Valuable Player honors. His production curtailed a bit down the stretch, but he still averaged 17.4 points and 7.8 rebounds in about 33 minutes per game.

Stephen Curry, LeBron James unanimous All-NBA choices

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5/21/15) Stephen Curry and LeBron James were unanimous choices for the All-NBA first team, announced on Thursday.

The Warriors' Curry, who was named NBA MVP, and the Cavaliers' James received first team votes on all 129 ballots submitted. Joining Curry at guard on the All-NBA team is the Rockets' James Harden, who received 125 votes.

Joining James at forward is Anthony Davis of the Pelicans (119 votes). The center is Marc Gasol of the Grizzlies (65 votes).

The second team consists of the Trail Blazers' LaMarcus Aldridge, the Kings' DeMarcus Cousins, the Bulls' Pau Gasol, the Thunder's Russell Westbrook and the Clippers' Chris Paul.

The third team is the Spurs' Tim Duncan, the Clippers' Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, the Warriors' Klay Thompson and the Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving

Grizzlies GM believes team will re-sign Gasol

(5/20/15) Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace is confident the team will be able to retain center Marc Gasol this offseason, according to Real Sports Talk.

"I firmly believe we will [re-sign] Marc Gasol this summer," Wallace said.

Gasol recently said he's still focused on what went wrong in the playoff loss to the Warriors rather than with his pending free agency.

Gasol averaged 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 blocks this season, and was voted an All-Star for the second time in his career.
