Heat forward Josh McRoberts could miss time early
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(10/22/14) Heat forward Josh McRoberts is still worried about being sidelined at the beginning of the regular season, according to the Sun Sentinel.
McRoberts had toe surgery in the offseason, and knew missing a part of the regular season would be a possibility. "I wouldn't use the word surprised," McRoberts said. "A surgery like this takes a while. I knew it was a probability." McRoberts is not expected to play in the team's preseason finale Friday due to the issue.
He's also been limited by a back injury during camp, and has not been practicing. McRoberts admitted the process has been frustrating, but said the team's training staff is doing everything it can in order to get him back on the court.

|(10/6/14) The Heat signed Josh McRoberts to be the starting power forward this offseason, but it is not yet clear if he will be available when the games begin to matter.
Coach Eric Spoelstra told the Miami Herald Monday he is not sure if McRoberts will be ready to play by the start of the regular season, due to a toe injury. McRoberts is expected to travel with the team for upcoming exhibition games in Brazil, but sat out the team's preseason opener Saturday.
McRoberts is coming off the best season of his career, as he averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He also averaged 11.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in a four-game series loss to the Heat in the postseason.

Josh McRoberts expects to be ready by Heat season opener

|(10/1/14) Heat forward Josh McRoberts will not play in Wednesday's scrimmage due to a toe injury, according to the Sun-Sentinel. McRoberts, who had toe surgery in the offseason, said he has dealt with the issue for years.
"I've needed surgery for a couple years," McRoberts said. "We kind of figured out last year before the season started. I knew right when the playoffs ended, so it was something I had planned for."
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said the Heat are just being cautious to avoid McRoberts aggravating the injury. However, McRoberts expects to be ready by the season opener in late October.
"I'm just kind of easing back into things," McRoberts said. "It takes time to recover from something like this. I'm just trying not to overdo it."
Josh McRoberts agrees to join Heat

|(7/7/14) Free agent forward Josh McRoberts had been reportedly been deciding between the Miami Heat and the incumbent Charlotte Hornets, but ESPN reported Monday that a decision has been made. The report suggests McRoberts has "verbally committed" to joining the Heat.
McRoberts will likely take Miami's full mid-level exception. NBA Insider Ken Berger reports that the deal is worth $23 million over four years. He had a successful season playing point forward for Charlotte last year, averaging a career-high 4.3 assists per game.
|After failing to catch on for years, Josh McRoberts finally found his place with the Bobcats last season as the fulcrum of their offense. He ran much of the team's offense through the high post, and turned in a career-high 4.3 assists per game, while adding 4.8 rebounds and 8.5 points per game. McRoberts is now tasked with attempting to fill some of the comically oversized shoes left by LeBron James' departure from Miami, as he joins a Heat team in desperate need of some offensive creativity. McRoberts emerged as a league-average three-point shooter last season, nailing 36.1 percent of his 3-pointers, and should work nicely in coach Eric Spoelstra's pace-and-space offense. McRoberts should be a solid low-end Fantasy option in category-based formats, and is worth targeting in the later rounds on Draft Day.
