Brandan Wright's Fantasy value could return in Phoenix
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(1/13/15) Suns center Brandan Wright should fit in beautifully with his new team, but how much should Fantasy owners expect that to impact his value moving forward?
Wright's value took a big hit when he left Dallas, where he was a perfect fit in the second unit. Backing up Tyson Chandler limited Wright's playing time, but he was tremendous when he was on the floor in Dallas, averaging 8.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in just 18.7 minutes, on the strength of 74.8 percent shooting. He might not be able to sustain that kind of shooting in Phoenix, though their cadre of talented point guards should give him plenty of chances to run at the rim.
Wright was a solid Fantasy option in Dallas thanks to his shooting and defense, and he could return to that level in Phoenix. The question is going to be whether he can get to that 18-20 minute range he was at in Dallas. At this point, there are probably too many other centers worth your attention on waivers ahead of Wright, but if he starts playing 20 minutes every game for the Suns, you'll want to snag him in category-based leagues.
|Despite being fairly productive in limited minutes, Brandan Wright never got the opportunity to become Fantasy relevant last season. His per 36 numbers indicate there's some untapped Rotisserie potential there, but with guys like Tyson Chandler and Dirk Nowitzki standing in the way of big minutes, you'll have to ignore Wright on Draft Day outside of deep Roto leagues. If Chandler gets injured in the preseason, grab Wright in the later rounds of your draft for his excellent field goal percentage and shot blocking. Otherwise, move along -- nothing to see here yet.
