Fredette hoping for more next season: Kings guard Jimmer Fredette has not developed as the team hoped when they selected him with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, and he has struggled to earn consistent playing time yet again this season. Despite that, Fredette told the Sacramento Bee Thursday that he feels he has made progress in his second year, even in a season where he is averaging just 13.7 minutes per game. "I know I'm progressing as a basketball player, and that's the most important thing," he said. "And when you get an opportunity, you just have to go out and show it, so that's what I've been trying to do all year." Fredette hopes to find more playing time next season, though that may be tough if the team does not clear out a logjam at the guard spots. No matter what, Fredette plans to go into the summer feeling positive about his development as a player. "I feel like I've learned a lot; I've progressed and I'm ready to take the next step," he said. "I'm ready to have a crucial role on a team and play well and play a lot of minutes. I'm confident in my abilities, and I can help a team out. I'm excited to be able to show that. I'll finish the season strong, have a great summer and be ready for next year." (Updated 4/11/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Fredette has been a victim of circumstance this season. He is clearly playing better than during his disastrous rookie season, but has been unable to find playing time due to other internal improvements across the roster. Fredette is averaging 7.0 points per game on the season, while shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 42.4 percent from three-point range. Unfortunately, most of the team's other guards are also under contract next season, so there might not be much room for Fredette once again. There is a productive scorer here somewhere waiting to be unleashed, but he has yet to prove himself in a big role. Fredette will remain a low-end Fantasy reserve for deeper formats heading into Draft Day next season, but his upside makes him worth keeping an eye on. (Updated 4/11/13). |

| There were plenty of questions about Jimmer Fredette's ability to transition to the professional game, and he answered just about none of them as a rookie, posting a pathetic 38.6 percent mark from the field while scoring 7.6 points per game. He was solid from three-point range, hitting 36.1 percent of his shots, but given his reputation as one of the best shooters in college history, even that was a disappointment. He enters this season still just 23 years old, however it is fair to be much lower on him than you were a year ago. He is going to have to prove himself at this level before being worthy of consideration in most Fantasy formats, so leave him as just a reserve option in deeper leagues. (Updated 9/26/12) |
