Kirilenko filling up stat sheet : Minnesota forward Andrei Kirilenko turned in another solid all-around performance during Saturday's win over the Pistons. Kirilenko finished with 13 points in the 107-101 win on 4 of 10 shooting from the field. He made all seven of his attempts from the charity stripe and also added seven steals, six rebounds, three rebounds and two assists to his stat line, while logging 43 minutes of game action. | Fantasy Analysis |
Kirilenko's return to the NBA has been a successful one as the veteran was able to fit right in with Minnesota this season. He entered Saturday's tilt averaging 12.6 points on the year -- his highest scoring output since the 2005-06 campaign. While he did have some trouble staying healthy (19 missed games), Kirilenko proved he can still fill up the stat sheet with the best of them. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with the 32-year-old as a viable low-end option in most formats heading into Fantasy Week 24 (April 8-14). (Updated 4/6/13). |
| Andrei Kirilenko decided to head back to the NBA after spending the last season playing in Russia. The 31-year-old signed a two-year deal worth an estimated $20 million with the Timberwolves over the summer and is expected to be the team's starting small forward right out of the gate. Kirilenko, who spent each of his first 10 seasons in the league with the Jazz, averaged 11.7 points, 5.1 rebound, 3.0 assists ,1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks during his last year in Utah while averaging 31.2 minutes per game. He also shot 46 percent from the field and will be asked to take on more of a scoring role alongside Kevin Love, especially during the early part of the season. While Kirilenko doesn't exactly thrive in any one particular area on the court, his biggest asset to Fantasy owners continues to be his ability to fill up a stat sheet. He has averaged at least one steal and block per game in each of his 11 seasons in the league and is career 47-percent shooter from the field while draining 76-percent of his shots from the free-throw line, making him a perfect fit for most owners in category-based formats. However, he has been a bit injury prone over his career as he missed a total of 57 games over his last three years in Utah due to knee issues. Consider Kirilenko a decent low-end option worthy of a late-round pick in most formats on Draft Day next season. (Updated 8/27/12) |
