|(3/11/15) Pelicans backup forward Alexis Ajinca scored 17 points on 7 of 14 shooting from the field in New Orleans' 111-91 win over the Nets Tuesday. Coach Monty Williams likes what he can do for the team coming out of the reserve role.
"He was good," Williams said. "He gave us a big lift. Being able to throw him the ball is something that we've gone to the last few weeks and he's delivered for us."
Ajinca also grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists in the contest.
Pelicans' Alexis Ajinca posts double-double on Wednesday
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(3/4/15) Pelicans center Alexis Ajinca posted a double-double on Wednesday against the Pistons.
Ajinca shot 5-10 from the field, finishing with 10 points. He was active on the boards, pulling down 11 rebounds. Nine of those came on the defensive side of the court. Ajinca added two assists and one block during the contest.
Following the game, Ajinca talked about his recent breakout. "I'm trying to bring anything I have to the team. Especially because first we had A.D. (Anthony Davis) and Ryan (Anderson) be out so I had to step up and play big time minutes, and I had to do some different (things)," he said. "It went well, so now I’m going to go and keep it this way and hopefully I will keep having some good minutes."
|The Pelicans might have one of the best fourth big man in the league in the form of Alexis Ajinca, who returned t the club on a big extension this summer. Ajinca's per-game numbers (6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.8 blocks) won't blow you away, until you realize he is doing that in just 14.1 minutes per game. Unfortunately, with Omer Asik back on a massive extension of his own and Ryan Anderson and Anthony Davis still firmly cemented in the rotation, minutes are going to continue to be tough to come by for Ajinca, who only has appeal in the event of injuries.
