Fantasy Analysis
Augustin continues to be bothered by the tendinitis in his right knee, which will force him from the lineup from time-to-time. Fantasy owners in daily formats will have to keep an eye on his status on game-by-game basis. Augustin can be considered a mid-range Fantasy guard in most formats, when healthy and starting. 04/02/2012 10:12 Week 15 Start 'Em and Sit 'Em
J.J. Hickson has never really delivered on his potential, in part due to him being a defensive liability. However, as our Chris Towers writes, his could provide an offensive spark for both the Blazers and owners.
Augustin got a chance to prove his worth during the 2010-11 season and performed about as expected. The 23-year-old averaged 14.4 points and 6.1 assists during his first season as a starter while appearing and starting in all 82 games. However, Augustin didn't get off to a great start last year, struggling to find his role in coach Larry Brown's offense scheme. It wasn't until Paul Silas took over that Augustin began to really flourish. He increased his scoring by nearly three points per contest under the tutelage of Silas and was able to do so without his field-goal percentage taking a major hit. Many believe Augustin has not reached his ceiling yet and could see another significant increase in his scoring now that Stephen Jackson is out of town. It doesn't hurt that Silas has also signed on for another year, so at the very least, owners should be looking another year of mid-teens scoring with around six assists per game. He could get pushed for minutes by Kemba Walker during some point in the season, but Augustin is once again expected to be the catalyst for Charlotte's offense. Fantasy owners should consider him a solid No. 3 guard with some upside, worthy of a mid-round pick on Draft Day. (Updated 8/28/11)
