Hickson ready to roll : Trail Blazers center J.J. Hickson was able to get back on the court for Friday's contest against the Thunder. Hickson, who was forced to miss Portland's loss to the Lakers on Wednesday due to a sore lower back, finished with seven points and seven rebounds in the 106-90 defeat. He went 3 of 5 from the field and also added one steal to his stat line. (Updated 4/12/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Hickson has been productive for the Trail Blazers, but he is out of position at center. He is averaging 12.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game on the season, and remains a serious defensive liability. Fantasy owners do not care much for his defensive issues, but it might make it tougher for him to find the right landing spot in free agency. Hickson's free agency will be interesting to monitor, as he might have trouble finding a spot in someone's starting lineup if Portland is not willing to bring him back. He remains a solid Fantasy option when healthy. (Updated 4/12/13). |

Blazers GM says it's unlikely team will re-sign J.J. Hickson
J.J. Hickson probably won't find himself back with the Trail Blazers next season, so says general manager Neil Olshey.
|
| J.J. Hickson turned out to be one of the bigger busts in Fantasy last season as he was never able to get himself going in Sacramento. He averaged just 4.7 points and 5.1 rebounds during his 35 games with the Kings before he was eventually bought out and claimed by Trail Blazers. Hickson seemed rejuvenated once landing in Portland as his production took off. He averaged 15.1 points and 8.3 rebounds in his 19 games with the Blazers, although most of that production came once LaMarcus Aldridge was already shut down for the season. While Aldridge will be back manning his power forward spot next year, Hickson still figures to have a big role in Portland, especially with the team in full rebuilding mode. Whether he ends up starting or not, Hickson should be looking at least 25-30 minutes on a nightly basis, which is what he saw during his final year in Cleveland when he averaged 13.8 points and 8.7 rebounds. Fantasy owners should be able to rely on the former University of North Carolina State standout for a solid field-goal percentage and low-double digit scoring with around 7-9 rebounds a game and a handful of assists. Consider the 23-year-old worthy of a late-round pick in most formats next season. (Updated 8/22/12) |
