Asik looking for chances: Bulls center Omer Asik hasnt missed a shot from the field in five games, however he continues to receive limited opportunities, playing just 10 minutes on Sunday against the 76ers. Fantasy Analysis
Asik has made each of his last eight field goal attempts, upping his field goal percentage to 52.0 percent on the season. Unfortunately, he is also receiving just 15.0 minutes per game in the last five and in the season overall, making him just a low-end reserve option in the majority of Fantasy leagues. 05/10/2012 22:02 Eighth-seeded 76ers knock out Bulls
Andre Iguodala made the go-ahead free throws with 2.2 seconds left and the Philadelphia 76ers rallied for a 79-78 victory against the top-seeded Chicago Bulls in Game 6 on Thursday night, advancing to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs for the first time since 2003.
After playing two seasons in his home country of Turkey, Asik finally made his way to the NBA a season ago and showed some flashes while playing in all 82 games with the Bulls. While he averaged just 2.8 points with 3.7 rebounds, he only saw about 12 minutes per contest. Coach Tom Thibodeau believes Asik can be a dominant defensive center in the league, but the 2008 second-round pick still has some growing to do at age 25. The Bulls are hoping he can become more of a scorer in 2011-12, so they can keep him on the court more, and as long as he is seeing minutes, rebounds and defensive stats should follow. He will continue to backup Joakim Noah for the time being but his upside could make him a starter eventually. Asik is an intriguing Fantasy C entering Draft Day but should be ignored in the majority of formats until he proves his worth on the court. (Updated 8/28/11)
