Knee - Questionable for start of training camp (Updated - 4/30/13) |
| Fantasy Analysis |
One down and one to go for Gallinari, who will need two surgeries to fix the damage in his left knee. The Nuggets will likely wait until Gallo has the second procedure before announcing a timetable for his return, so owners will have to keep an eye on the situation in the coming weeks. The 24-year-old averaged a career-high 16.2 points and 5.2 rebounds on the year to go along with a team-best 135 made treys. Gallinari can be considered a high-end option in most formats, but lets wait and see how his recovery goes over the next few months before evaluating his value heading into the 2013-14 campaign. (Updated 4/30/13). |
| Danilo Gallinari was picked by many to be a breakout candidate entering the 2011-12 campaign, but unfortunately that never came to fruition. The 23-year-old missed 23 games due to a fractured left ankle and sprained left thumb and wound up averaging a career-worst 14.6 points during his first full season in Denver. His injuries also seemed to rob him of his shooting touch as he shot just 33 percent from downtown, which is a far cry from the 37.6 percent he averaged during his first three years in the league. However, Gallinari did manage to keep his assist and rebounding totals on par with his career averages and finished just outside the top 50 in terms of total Fantasy points in Head-to-Head formats. While Gallinari has been a bit of a disappointment over the past two seasons, we still don't feel he has reached his ceiling yet. Even if he has, Fantasy owners should consider him no worse than a No. 3 Fantasy forward heading into the 2012-13 campaign. He should be targeted in the middle rounds of most formats on Draft Day next fall. (Updated 8/22/12) |
