G Joe Johnson: Nets likely to be broken up in offseason

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/2/15) Nets veteran guard Joe Johnson doesn't know how the roster will change next season. But he does believe that it will be quite different.

His team finished under .500 and lost in the first round of the playoffs despite boasting such talent as Johnson, Brook Lopez and Deron Williams. The Nets simply didn't mesh.

"I don't see us coming back as the same team," Johnson told the New York Daily News. "This is my third year here. I could see if we were getting better each year, but it's been kind of the opposite. So to not even be a .500 ball club in the East, it's disheartening and I don't know. I think everyone in the locker room is unsure of the future here."

The Nets have no cap space and pick 29th in the draft. Lopez and Thaddeus Young appear destined for free agency. Johnson could be traded. So could Williams, whom coach Lionel Hollins recently claimed is not worthy of a max contract.

Hollins was still complaining Saturday.

"I thought we had a higher basketball IQ as a group than we did," he said. "That was a big thing. I thought we had more toughness and all of that. But as a coach, looking from the outside, that's what I always say until you come in and coach a team you don't know for sure. I thought the skill level was better ... but we worked around it and that's part of coaching."

Williams declined to to speak to the media as he and his teammates gathered their bags and took off.

Nets look to resign Lopez, Young; may lose Anderson to free agency

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(5/2/15) The Nets will attempt to resign center Brook Lopez and forward Thaddeus Young this offseason while probably losing guard Alan Anderson to free agency, reports ESPN.com.

Lopez and Young will most likely opt out of their current contracts and get multi-year deals if they're to remain in Brooklyn.

Anderson will exercise his option to become a free agent, reports the New York Post

Nets G Joe Johnson says chemistry to blame for disappointing season

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(5/2/15) Guard Joe Johnson said that the Nets' coaching change this season was not the reason the team underperformed, citing chemistry issues with teammates Brook Lopez and Deron Williams as the reason, according to the Wall Street Journal

The Nets were a five seed in last season's Eastern Conference playoffs but fell to No. 8 this year, losing in the first round to the Hawks.

Nets center Brook Lopez dominates in Game 3 win Saturday

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(4/25/15) Nets center Brook Lopez scored 22 points on 7 of 18 shooting from the field and 8 of 12 from the free throw line in Brooklyn's 91-83 win over the Hawks in Game 3 Saturday. Lopez also pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds, leading to his second double-double of the postseason and fourth in his playoff career.

Lopez added two blocks to his totals. He and the Nets will look to even the series Monday in Brooklyn.

Brook Lopez's double-double of 12 points, 10 boards not enough for Nets

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(4/12/15) Center Brook Lopez posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the Nets' 96-73 defeat to the Bucks on Sunday.

With the 12 points, Lopez tied Jason Kidd for fourth place in Nets history in points (7,373 points).
