Jason Thompson not getting many shots
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(2/12/14) Kings forward Jason Thompson continues to make little impact, despite playing 31 minutes in a 106-101 win over the Knicks.
Thompson was solid in the overtime win, but just didn't get to take many shots. He finished with six points on 3 of 5 shooting, though he did add 10 rebounds in his 31 minutes of action.
Thompson is averaging a career-low 7.7 points per game, despite shooting 50.7 percent from the field.
Jason Thompson posts fifth double-double
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(1/27/14) Kings forward Jason Thompson was all over the glass on Sunday, as he recorded his fifth double-double of the season in a 125-117 loss to the Nuggets.
Thompson went 5 of 7 shooting from the field, and 3 of 4 from downtown. He put up a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, with half of them coming from the offensive end of the glass. He also chipped in with one assist and one steal while logging 28 minutes of game action.
Thompson has doubled up in two of his last five games. He has averaged 9.6 points and 9.2 rebounds over his last five games.
|There doesn't seem to be much room for a rebounding specialist next to DeMarcus Cousins, but the Kings might have no choice but to continue rolling out Jason Thompson at power forward. He only scored a career-low 7.1 points in the 24.5 minutes per game he was allotted last season, so the Kings could be shifting to a power forward by committee approach until they find the guy they're looking for. Considering he ended the season owned in just 24 percent of leagues, it's safe to leave Thompson off of draft boards given the Kings current roster makeup. Deep and maybe some 12-team leagues might take a late-round flier on him, but don't pass up anyone with a solidified role to draft Thompson.
