Hornets' Clifford: Kemba Walker will never average 30 points
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(4/16/15) Although Hornets coach Steve Clifford said guard Kemba Walker is not the type of player to average 30 points per game, he did say that Walker can be a dynamic player, reports The Charlotte Observer.
"You can win with him," he said.
Clifford added that on an ideal team, Walker would be considered the third or fourth scoring option.
With Clifford admitting the Hornets lacked offense this season, he said the team would like to add a proven scorer during the offseason.
"Offensively we were challenged, and we didn't make the improvement we needed to," he said. "Going into the summer, that's what has to be addressed."

Hornets PG Kemba Walker defends coach Steve Clifford
|by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com|
|(4/2/15) Hornets point guard Kemba Walker is calling out the fans that are putting too much of the blame on head coach Steve Clifford, reports the Charlotte Observer. Fans of the team have been calling out the coach on local radio programs and social media.
"It has nothing to do with him," Walker said of the Hornets sitting 10th in the Eastern Conference, two spots out of the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. "He does a great job, he’s a fantastic coach. He always does his best to give us the right game plan, to try and get wins.
"I’m 100 percent behind him. I believe in him."
Walker is averaging 18.0 points, 5.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game this season.
Hornets guard Kemba Walker scores 17 points in win
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(4/1/15) Hornets point guard Kemba Walker scored 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting from the field, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range, in Charlotte's 102-78 win over the Pistons Wednesday.
Walker also added six rebounds, four assists and three steals to his totals in the contest. It was Walker's fourth game in his last five scoring in double figures.
|One of the positives of Kemba Walker as a prospect was his NBA-readiness. After three years of playing a significant role in college, he was supposed to be able to step into the NBA and contribute right away, and that's what he has done. However, his production has stagnated over the last three seasons, which leaves his Fantasy ceiling very much in question. He had another fine season in 2014-15, averaging 17.3 points and 5.1 assists per game, but his shooting percentages dropped across the board. He ended up below 40 percent from the field for the third time in four seasons. Walker can put up solid scoring and assist numbers, and he rarely turns the ball over, which makes him a useful option in all formats. However, his inability to shoot limits his upside and leaves him as more of a mid-round target on Draft Day.
