Report: Celtics' Isaiah Thomas scheduled for physical Saturday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(2/20/15) Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas is flying to Boston Friday and will undergo his physical Saturday, the Boston Globe reports.
Thomas is set to miss Friday's game in Sacramento against the Kings. He averaged 15.2 points and 3.7 assists in 46 games with the Suns before being dealt to the Celtics Thursday.
The Celtics are 3 1/2-point underdogs against the Kings Friday.
|What's a guy got to do to earn a starting point guard role? Isaiah Thomas had nearly identical stats to Kyrie Irving last season, yet the Kings let him walk in restricted free agency and he landed on the Suns -- a team with two high-usage guards already in the starting lineup. Assuming Dragic and Bledsoe are healthy and on the roster, Thomas' value should fall somewhere in between those two studs and the steady rotation of streaming options the Suns rolled out last season. He'll likely fall in the Jamal Crawford range of valuable sixth men for Fantasy. He'll still score, but Thomas will have a hard time getting back up over five assists per game in Phoenix's crowded backcourt. Barring some change in the roster dynamic, it's probably best to let Thomas fall to the middle rounds of your draft.
