Martin explodes off bench: After playing a combined six minutes over the previous three games, Wizards forward Cartier Martin saw an increased role on Saturday night against the Warriors. He played 30 minutes off the bench and scored a season-high 23 points in the 101-92 loss. He went 8 for 13 from the field, including 6 for 9 from downtown, and made 1 of 2 free throws. Martin also posted three rebounds, three assists and a steal in the defeat.

Martin entered Saturday averaging 5.8 points on the year and holds minimal Fantasy appeal. While this performance could earn him some more minutes going forward, continue to ignore the 28-year-old in the majority of formats.

Wizards surprise another top team with win over Nuggets
The Washington Wizards put on one of their best offensive shows of the season Friday night, putting seven players in double figures while taking down another contending team with a 119-113 win over the Denver Nuggets

| If there was an award for best cameo appearance late in an NBA season, Cartier Martin could be in the running. Martin joined the Wizards for the final five weeks of the 2011-12 campaign after spending time overseas and in the D-League. But he returned strong and averaged a career-high 9.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 17 games. Washington thought highly of his potential and re-signed him in the offseason but without the promise of starts, his Fantasy value remains low on Draft Day for the upcoming year. (Updated 8/22/12) |
