Bulls F Taj Gibson ejected from Game 5 against Cavs

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(5/12/15) Bulls forward Taj Gibson was ejected in Tuesday's Game 5 matchup against the Cavaliers.

Gibson appeared to have his leg locked with Cavs guard Matthew Dellavedova in the fourth quarter and then made a kicking motion. Referees determined this warranted to eject Gibson from the game.

"I was surprised," Gibson said, via the Chicago Tribune. "I really just tried to release my foot from him."

Gibson finished Tuesday's game with 10 points and five rebounds.

Thibodeau on Bulls PF Taj Gibson: 'Taj is always important'

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/6/15) The addition of Pau Gasol and emergence of Nikola Mirotic this season cut into the opportunities for Bulls reserve forward Taj Gibson. But it didn't cut into the respect Tom Thibodeau has for him.

Gibson averaged 13 points and 6.8 rebounds a game last season, but the numbers fell to 10.3 and 6.4 this year. He contributed plenty down the stretch in the regular season, however, after returning from an ankle sprain. He also helped Chicago handle the length of Milwaukee in the first round. Thibodeau is thankful for what he brings to the table.

"Taj is always important," he told NBA.com. "That's the only thing you can't overlook, what he brings to our team, his defense, his rebounding. He's probably our best low-post defender. He's our best guy at moving his feet. Offensively it's hard to put a small on him - he can overpower you inside with his post game. Second shots. He's got a good 17-foot shot, it's not like you can disregard him. You've got to pay attention to him. He's critical for our team."

Gibson posted eight points on 3-of-5 shooting and five rebounds in 28 minutes in the Bulls' Game 1 victory in Cleveland.

Bulls F Taj Gibson overcoming injuries to contribute

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/24/15) Ankle and shoulder ailments have Bulls forward Taj Gibson hurting, but he's not about to limit himself in the playoffs. He was given a cortisone shot in his shoulder last week, but an injury to teammate and fellow forward Nikola Mirotic has forced him into extra playing time.

"It's tough," he told the Chicago Tribune. "But you still have to go out there and do your best."

Gibson snagged eight rebounds in the fourth quarter in the double-overtime defeat of Milwaukee in Game 3 that placed the Bulls on the verge of a sweep.

"I was just determined," an exhausted Gibson said. "It's the playoffs. You can't worry about injuries right now. I'm just trying to be there for my teammates any way I can."

Taj Gibson practices for Bulls, will play in Game 1

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/17/15) Bulls PF Taj Gibson was a full participant in practice on Friday, and coach Tom Thibodeaux said that he would play in Game 1 of the team's playoff series against the Bucks, per the Chicago Tribune.

Gibson left the regular season finale with a strained left should and was originally listed as probable for the game.
