Beaubois undergoes hand surgery: Dallas guard Roddy Beaubois had surgery to repair the second metacarpal fracture on his left hand on Wednesday, reports the team's official site. Beaubois fractured his hand on Sunday against Oklahoma City. He is out for the rest of the season.

| Fantasy Analysis |
Tough break for Beaubois as he had just started to work his way back into coach Rick Carlisle's rotation. Now he is likely out for the season and may have played his last game in a Maverick uniform as he will be a free agent this summer. The 25-year-old averaged just 4.1 points and 1.9 assists on the year and should be cut loose in all seasonal formats at this point.

| Roddy Beaubois returned for a relatively healthy season last year after being slowed by offseason foot surgery the year prior and being limited to just 28 games. That said, Beaubois entered last season with high expectations, but only progressed at a limited level for the Mavs. We thought he'd blossom into a go-to scorer for the aging team, but instead averaged just 8.9 points per game over 21.7 minutes. His shooting percentages waned while his other numbers remained mostly stagnant from what he posted in his first two NBA seasons. The good news for his Fantasy value is that much more will be asked of Beaubois this season with Jason Kidd out of the picture in Dallas. The Mavs might ask Beaubois to run the show, so we expect his assist figures to rise, at the very least. Fantasy owners can expect a career season, but we doubt that makes him worthy of a pick before the later rounds on Draft Day. (Updated 8/22/12) |
