DeRozan tossed for throwing ball : Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan was ejected from Monday night's contest against the Bucks after he was called for traveling and threw the ball down the court in protest. He finished with four points prior to getting the boot. "No matter how tough it gets or how much frustration sets in, fatigue, whatever it is, you've got to buckle up and roll with it," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. "We talked about it after the game and it's a teaching moment for him. It's part of his maturity process. When you're the man on the team, you've got to be responsible for that." (Updated 04/24/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
DeRozan is considered the closest thing the Raptors have to a superstar at the moment, but as you can see, he still has some growing up to do. The 22-year-old endured his worst shooting season as a pro as he made just 42 percent of his shots on the year. While many feel DeRozan has all the tools to become an elite option in the league, he still has a ton of refining to do to his game. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on how he progresses over the summer. As it stands right now, DeRozan can be considered a top 40 Fantasy guard heading into next year. However, he still has a ton of upside. (Updated 04/24/2012).

Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving of Cleveland and Knicks star Jeremy Lin are among 13 NBA players chosen to scrimmage against the U.S. men's Olympic basketball team in July.
The 22-year-old DeRozan absolutely broke out in his second NBA season out of USC last year with the Raptors. Toronto needed a steady scoring presence in the backcourt and DeRozan gave it to them as he averaged 17.2 points per game over 35 minutes, both monster jumps from the season prior. Unfortunately, outside of scoring, DeRozan’s game was lacking in several areas last season as he shot poorly and only contributed 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and a steal per night. The athletic guard has the potential to contribute so much more, however, and continues to bring sleeper appeal into the season. The Raptors have a lot of contributors, but no real Fantasy stars. DeRozan has the ability to be that type of player in Fantasy and owners should begin taking him in the middle-to-late rounds. Consider DeRozan right on the fence of the top 40 Fantasy guards heading into the 2011-12 season. (Updated 8/23/11)
