Lawson looks sharp in return : Nuggets guard Ty Lawson looked sharp in his return to the court during Friday's contest against the Mavericks. Lawson, who had missed eight of the past nine games due to a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, finished with 13 points in the 108-105 overtime loss. He went 5 of 7 from the field and also added three assists and two rebounds to his stat line, while logging 19 minutes off the bench. Coach George Karl told reporters after the game that Lawson was "better than expected," in the loss. (Updated 4/13/13) |

The Nuggets wanted to get Lawson some work in before the playoffs started, and both Lawson and the Nuggets seemed to be very pleased with the way things went Friday. However, Karl could still opt to rest him a bit over the final few games of the regular season just to be on the safe side. Lawson got off to a slow start this year, but entered his latest tilt averaging 19.4 points and 6.3 assists after the All-Star break. Lawson can be considered high-end option in all formats when healthy. (Updated 4/13/13). |
| Ty Lawson turned in his best statistical season as a pro during the 2011-12 campaign as he averaged a career-high 16.4 points, 6.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 61 games for the Nuggets. Still, it was a tale of two seasons for the 24-year-old as he was asked to be more of a facilitator during the first half of the year and more of a scorer in the second half, especially with all of the injuries Denver went through. He responded very well to both situations and wound up finishing as the 11th highest scoring Fantasy guard, in terms of Fantasy points in all Head-to-Head formats. The Nuggets were so thrilled with the way Lawson responded last season they are working on a long-term extension for the former University of North Carolina standout that will keep him in Denver for years to come. While Lawson finally established himself a bonafide high-end Fantasy option, most are wondering if he will be able to take his game to the next level and become an elite Fantasy guard moving forward. He will have every opportunity this season coach as George Karl wants Lawson to be more of a scoring threat like he was when he averaged 19.0 points during the postseason last year. Fantasy owners should plan on targeting Lawson in the early-to-middle rounds in most formats next season. (Updated 8/22/12) |
