|by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer|
|(4/7/15) Nuggets guard Ty Lawson (forearm) is expected to play Wednesday against the Lakers while forward Darrell Arthur (calf) remains doubtful and guard Jameer Nelson (hip) is out, the Denver Post reports.
Lawson sat out Saturday's game with the forearm issue, Nelson left Saturday's game and did not return and Arthur has been out since March 25.
The Nuggets are 10-point favorites over the Lakers.
|Nuggets guard Ty Lawson will be looking to build on one his best statistical seasons heading into the 2014-15 season. That said, he'll need to prove that he's durable in order to make another jump. Lawson has not logged more than 80 games in a season since 2010-11 -- his second season in the league. Lawson was limited to only 62 games last season due to a number of injuries. He missed nine straight games because of a fractured rib and sat out the final six games of the season because of an injured ankle. In his first 45 games before going down with a cracked rib, he averaged 18.0 points, 8.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 35.6 minutes. He shot 43.4 percent from the floor and 34.0 percent from downtown. After returning from a fractured rib, he logged 17 games before suffering the ankle injury that cost him the final six games. Overall, he finished with career-highs in scoring (17.6) and assists (8.8), also averaging 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. He shot a career-low 43.1 percent from the floor, including 35.6 percent from downtown, and 79.8 percent from the charity stripe. Lawson was terrific when on the floor, and will be gunning to stay durable throughout the season. There shouldn't be any injury concern for Lawson moving forward, as he is expected to be healthy for the start of the season. However, because the point guard position is so deep, it may not be worth taking a stab at him so early in the draft. He should be targeted him in the early rounds, possibly as early as the third round come Draft Day.
