Young starts for Memphis: Memphis SF Sam Young got the start on Sunday in a loss to the Celtics with Tony Allen missing the game. Young scored 10 points and was only one of two starts in double figures for the Grizzlies. He went 4 for 9 from the field and missed both his 3-point attempts. Fantasy Analysis
The 26-year-old Young got the chance to start on Sunday, but wasn't an impact player. Averaging less than four points per game on the year over 11.4 minutes, Young can be ignored in all but the deepest of Fantasy leagues. (Updated 02/05/2012).
01/31/2012 23:24 Grizzlies win after rallying to force OT
O.J. Mayo scored 18 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 35 seconds left in overtime, as the Memphis Grizzlies snapped a four-game losing streak with a 100-97 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night.
Thanks to a slow start by O.J. Mayo last season, Sam Young was given the opportunity to start 46 games in his second NBA season. The results were unimpressive. In fact, Young actually averaged less scoring per game than he did as a rookie despite playing nearly five more minutes per game. His shot attempts did not increase and Young did little to distinguish himself as a player with significant upside. Very likely to return to a bench role this upcoming season, Young will not be worth drafting in most Fantasy formats. (Updated 8/28/11)
