| Fantasy Analysis |
Matthews averaged 14.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, a career high, in 2012-13 with the Blazers. He missed 13 games due to a variety of injuries, mostly related to his ankle. Matthews is a solid scorer and three-point shooter, but he doesn't bring a ton to the table otherwise, which limits his Fantasy value. Fantasy owners should plan on targeting Matthews in the later rounds in most draft formats next fall, assuming he does not have any setbacks with his elbow. (Updated 5/29/13). |

| After putting together a breakout campaign during his sophomore campaign, Wesley Matthews' production took a hit last season. The former University of Marquette standout averaged 13.7 points and 3.6 rebounds last season, while logging 33.8 minutes per game. However, the 25-year-old really struggled with his shot at times as he made just 41 percent of his field goals. He also saw his 3-point shooting take a slight hit and was even benched at one point during one of his cold spells in March. Still, the Trail Blazers think Matthews is their long-term answer at shooting guard and will give him every opportunity to succeed this year, especially with the team in full rebuilding mode. While Matthews has been very inconsistent over his first few years in the league, he still managed to finish as a top 50 Fantasy guard, in terms of Fantasy points, and should be able to improve upon that with an increased role. Consider third-year guard a low-end option worthy of a late-round pick in most formats on Draft Day. Although, Matthews' ability to knock down 3s makes his value slightly higher in category-based formats. (Updated 8/22/12) |
