Jazz G Alec Burks begins post-surgery rehab
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(1/17/15) Jazz guard Alec Burks began his rehab from shoulder surgery this week, he told the Deseret News on Friday.
Burks, who had season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday, revealed that his shoulder has not been at 100 percent since his college days at Colorado. He first injured his left shoulder in college, then aggravated it at the beginning of training camp leading up to this season.
"I don't think it was healthy all year. It just finally came to a point where I had to get it fixed," Burks said. "I had a really bad shoulder and they fixed it. This will repair everything. I'm going to have a 100 percent shoulder. Finally."
Burks' left arm will remain on a sling for the time being. His rehab consists of moving his left arm twice a week to help restore mobility. He'll start progressing to basketball-related activities once he ditches the sling.

In 27 games, Burks averaged 13.9 points and 4.2 rebounds. He is expected to be ready for training camp in 2015.

|(12/30/14) Jazz guard Alec Burks' shoulder injury could sidelined him long-term and possibly for the rest of the season, according to ESPN NBA reporter Marc Stein. Burks will miss a third straight game Tuesday against the Timberwolves.
Burks is averaging 13.9 points through 27 games, as well as career highs in rebounding (4.2 rpg) and assists (3.0). He is also shooting a career-best 82.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Jazz guard Alec Burks ruled out Tuesday against Timberwolves

|(12/30/14) Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves with a left shoulder injury. It will be his third straight game out while dealing with the injury.
In 10 games this month, Burks is averaging 15.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Rookie Rodney Hood replaced Burks Monday and had nine points, seven rebounds and five assists against the Clippers.
The Jazz are currently 6 1/2-point favorites against Minnesota Tuesday.
|In 2012-13, Jazz guard Alec Burks averaged 7.0 points per contest. He finally got over the hump and doubled that output in 2013-14. He'll be looking to build on that heading into 2014-15. Burks finally broke out of the cage and earned more playing time. He logged an additional 10 minutes of game action and as a result, he took four more shots per game (10.7) than he did the previous season. He appeared in 78 games (12 starts) last season with Utah, averaging 14.0 points, 2.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 28.1 minutes per game. Unless the Jazz go with a backcourt of multiple point guards (Trey Burke and Dante Exum), Burks is destined to be the full-time starter this season. He doesn’t give you much outside of scoring, so consider him a solid pick in the later rounds come Draft Day.
