Burks makes return : Jazz guard Alec Burks was abler to get back on the floor for Friday's contest against Minnesota. Burks, who had missed the previous two games with an ankle injury, finished with seven points and four rebounds in the 107-100 win.

| Fantasy Analysis |
Burks continues to show flashes of being a solid player, but he does not get consistent playing time. He entered Friday's tilt averaging 7.1 points per game on the season and has failed to reach double figures in the last six games. He can be safely ignored in the majority of Fantasy formats down the stretch.

| As part of the latest youth movement in Utah, Alec Burks understood his role as a 20-year-old rookie last season. But that didn't prevent him from blossoming into a capable scorer at the professional level. After gradually easing into the mix for playing time early in the season, Burks saw a steady bump in minutes during February. He averaged a season-high 21.1 minutes per game that month and responded with double-figures in scoring during seven contests, including every outing he topped 30 minutes. Granted he wasn't the prolific scorer like Cleveland star rookie Kyrie Irving (18.5 ppg), but his overall clip of 7.2 ppg ranked him 16th among first-year players. The Jazz pictures Burks as a quality combo guard, but he still needs to establish a presence beyond the arc as he attempted only 45 shots from 3-point range last year. With an increased playing time this season, and perhaps scoring, he could become a sneaky pick in the later rounds of deeper Fantasy drafts as a reserve option to open the season. (Updated 8/22/12) |
