Stiemsma not disappearing: With Nikola Pekovic still limited in his minutes load while returning from an abdomen injury, Timberwolves backup center Greg Stiemsma continues to see minutes. Stiemsma played a big role Friday in a blowout win over the Suns. Stiemsma scored 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting in 34 minutes off the bench, while snagging a career-high 10 rebounds. It was his first career double-double, and he added three blocks in a 117-86 win.

Stiemsma is averaging 8.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game over the last five, with 1.8 blocks per game. It looks like he is going to continue seeing a solid number of minutes moving forward, but he remains little more than a low-end Fantasy option down the stretch.

Jefferson's 40 points get Jazz past Timberwolves
Al Jefferson tied a career high with 40 points, including a clutch jumper with 39 seconds left, to power the Utah Jazz past the Minnesota Timberwolves, 107-100 on Friday night.

| After spending his rookie campaign with the Celtics, Greg Stiemsma decided to take his game to the Western Conference as he signed with the Timberwolves this summer. The 26-year-old averaged 2.9 points and 3.4 rebounds while seeing 14 minutes per game off the bench for Boston. Stiemsma will be asked to serve a similar role in Minnesota as the Timberwolves want him to be Nikola Pekovic's backup. While he could be in for a small increase in minutes, Stiemsma's main asset to Fantasy owners will once again be his shot blocking ability. He averaged 1.5 blocks per game last season -- second among all rookies -- which gave him value in deeper category-based formats. However, Stiemsma's lack of production in other areas of the stat sheet makes him a player who should go undrafted in the majority of formats next fall. (Updated 8/22/12) |
