Cousins has technical rescinded : Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins had the technical foul he received during Sunday's game against the Rockets. Cousins was whistled for his 16th technical foul of the year after he got into a pushing match with Greg Smith, which would have resulted in an automatic one-game suspension under league rules. Cousins latest technical foul was a bit flaky and the league obviously agreed by deciding to take it away. However, Cousins was once again plagued by maturity issues this season that resulted in suspensions and a few benchings. While he has still put up a productive averaging 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds on the year, we expected more from the 22-year-old this season. If Cousins ever figures things out, there really is no telling how good he can be. Still, even if he doesn't, he can still be considered a high-end option in all formats heading into next season. | DeMarcus Cousins took a big step forward last season, emerging as one of the handful of best low-post scorers in the league, while also taking his rebounding to a whole new level. The 22-year-old averaged 18.1 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while playing just 30.5 minutes per game on the season. He got into some minor trouble early in the season, but a coaching change seemed to spark him. He still takes far too many bad shots, and he led the league in personal fouls for the second year in a row, both of which will need to be fixed in order for him to take that next step in his development. However, even with his issues, Cousins has missed just three games in his two seasons and should be able to expand his skill set further. He is unreliable in real life, but for Fantasy purposes, few centers can touch him. He is worth targeting in the first two rounds, as one of the first five centers off the board. (Updated 9/26/12) |
