Johnson heads into free agency: Suns guard Wesley Johnson started to come into his own down the stretch this season, averaging 13.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in 21 games as a starter. The Suns would like to bring Johnson back after that nice run, but since the team did not pick up his 2013-14 option, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The team's television analyst Tim Kempton told a local radio station that the is unlikely offer Johnson a big contract this summer. Detailing what he thinks the team will tell Johnson during negotiations, Kempton said, 'Hey Wes, you had a great second half of the season, we'd love to have you back as a free agent, we can't offer you the farm, you're here, you understand the situation; we need to add some more pieces so we can't go overboard with you.'" | Fantasy Analysis |
Before working his way into the rotation towards the end of the year, Johnson was a complete non factor. As in his first two season with the Timberwolves, Johnson struggled with his overall game, averaging just 4.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in 29 games as a reserve. The former No. 4 overall pick might get some suitors interested in his upside, but he would have to land in an absolutely perfect spot to be worth your time as a Fantasy owner on Draft Day. We will monitor his free agency, but plan on ignoring Johnson in the majority of formats next fall. (Updated 4/24/13). |
