Celtics' Avery Bradley scores 22 in losing effort against Mavericks
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(1/2/15) Celtics guard Avery Bradley scored a team-high 22 points, but it was not enough as the Celtics lost to the Mavericks 119-101 on Friday.
Bradley shot 9 of 20 from the field including 3 of 6 from the 3-point line. He also added three rebounds, two assist and one block. It was his first game scoring 20 or more points since Dec. 23 and only the third time this season he has eclipsed 20 or more points.
"I thought we played in practice well this week," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said, per the Celtics. "We did not do that tonight. We got in a hole and we let it snowball on us."
The Celtics next play Saturday at Chicago.
|Avery Bradley took a big step forward with his game last season, and the Celtics rewarded him rather handsomely with a four-year deal worth $32 million as a restricted free agent. He averaged a career-high 14.9 points per game on 43.8 percent shooting, and he nailed a career-best 79 3-pointers in just 60 games, while connecting on 39.5 percent of his attempts. Bradley might have trouble reaching those same levels this season, however, as Rajon Rondo will be back for a full season and the Celtics added combo guard Marcus Smart with the No. 6 overall pick. Bradley was little more than a decent Fantasy option even at the best of times last season, and can be considered a late-round option in most formats on Draft Day.
