Birdman on emergence of Whiteside: 'S---, he's doing everything with ease'
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(2/10/15) Heat forward Chris Andersen shared his thoughts on the emergence of center Hassan Whiteside on Monday. When asked if there are any similarities between he and Whiteside, Andersen shook his head in disagreement.
"Absolutely not. He does everything 10 times better than I do it. With his length and his wingspan and jumping ability -- shit, he's doing everything with ease," Andersen said, per the Palm Beach Post. It looks like a video game deal where you create your own guy and he gets in there and just does what he does. It's fun to watch. You can imagine what his career's gonna be like. I try to pass my experience on to him and give him a little insight of what I've learned over the years. In a way, he does what I do. But he's got a soft hook. I ain't got that. He has a nice jumper. I got that. His length with his arms is amazing."
As of Jan. 1, Whiteside has the highest PER (32.0) in the NBA, topping the likes of Anthony Davis (31.0), Stephen Curry (29.4), James Harden (28.9) and LeBron James (28.2). He's also on pace to have the fourth-highest rebound percentage while on the floor in league history. Through 24 games, he has averaged 9.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest. He has eight double-doubles and one triple-double over that span.
