Cavaliers C Timofey Mozgov doubles up vs. Bulls Thursday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(2/12/15) Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov scored 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting while hauling in 11 rebounds in his team's 113-98 loss to the Bulls Thursday.
Mozgov was hit with foul trouble early in the second half, and after receiving his fourth foul soon after play resumed following halftime, he was hit with a technical foul on his way to the bench. He still managed to put together his first double-double in the last eight games, blocking one shot in the loss and scoring in double digits for the fifth time in six February games. Mozgov has a matchup with the Wizards on tap coming out of the All-Star break.

|(2/5/15) Cavaliers C Timofey Mozgov scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds, matching Kevin Love for the game high, in a 105-94 win over the Clippers, Thursday.
Mozgov did all of his damage in less than three quarters. He left the game for good with 3:22 left in the third and the Cavs leading by 31. The Clippers rallied in the fourth against the Cavalier bench to cut the lead to a respectable final score.
Mozgov shot 5-of-7 from the floor and earned four of his rebounds on the offensive glass.
The Cavaliers play next on Friday at the Pacers.
LeBron on Mozgov: Best big guy I've played with since Ilgauskas
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(1/22/15) The Cavaliers have won four straight games after beating the Jazz, 106-92, on Wednesday. While everyone is providing their two cents about what is driving the Cavs surge, star forward LeBron James has his own theory as well.
James feels the addition of Timofey Mozgov has been a big reason why the Cavs are beginning to play better. Mozgov is averaging 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in seven games since his acquisition from Denver.
"It's funny, I was talking to my friend the other day and I said he's probably the best, as far as big, true big," James said, per Cleveland.com. "You know, Chris Bosh is a great big, Kevin Love is a great big. But I'm talking about a true, 7-foot, big guy. He's probably the best one I've played with since Z (Zydrunas Ilgauskas).
"They have different skill sets, but they both have skill. They know how to play. Some times you get a lot of bigs that are just big. He knows how to play and it's great to have him out there."
Mozgov has had double-doubles in back-to-back games.
"He's going to be on the scouting report," James said of Mozgov. "Once you're on the scouting report, you start hitting the opposing team's scouting report then you know you're starting to do some good things. And he's going to be on that. He's a walking double-double."
Cavs' Blatt on recently acquired Mozgov: ''He's a great fit for our team'
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(1/20/15) Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov had quite the home debut during Monday's 108-94 win against the Bulls. Mozgov, who was acquired in a Jan. 7 trade with Denver, totaled 15 points and 15 rebounds in his first home game with Cleveland.
He is averaging 9.3 points and 9.0 rebounds in six games since his acquisition.
"I think since he’s came in here, he’s applied himself extremely well," coach Dave Blatt said, per the team's official website. "He’s fit right in and he’s a great fit for our team. The skill set that he has and his activity level is just a great fit for our team. We’ll miss Andy Varejao for a good period of time. We played not a short period of time without our starting center but obviously when Timo (Timofey) came in, he filled a big void and he’s just applied himself extremely well."
Cavs C Timofey Mozgov posts double-double in loss
|by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst|
|(1/11/15) New Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov scored 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked two shots in Sunday's loss to the Kings. This was Mozgov's second game -- and first start -- with Cleveland after being acquired from the Nuggets last week.
Mozgov, who had nine points and eight rebounds in his Cavs' debut, will visit Phoenix on Tuesday.
|After signing a three-year extension with Denver last year, Nuggets center Timofey Mozgov received plenty of chances to shine as a starter due to injuries. Mozgov could see a similar role as he competes for the starting job this season. JaVale McGee broke his leg and J.J. Hickson tore his ACL last season, so they may be eased into game action, giving Mozgov another chance to stand out. He averaged 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks over 82 games last season, showing some durability. He also shot 52.3 percent from the floor and 75.4 percent from the free throw line. He doubled up 10 times and had two games with 20-plus rebounds. Mozgov stepped up and grabbed a career-high 29 boards against the Warriors on April 11. With a possible chance of starting early in the season, consider Mozgov as a solid handcuff option for McGee, worth drafting in the later rounds.
