Fantasy Basketball Blog: Jeremy Lin's new role
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(10/24/14) At the Fantasy Basketball Today blog, we took a look at the Fantasy implications of Steve Nash's injury, and how his absence will impact Jeremy Lin now that he is the de facto lead point guard for the Lakers. Here's some of what I had to say about Lin:
"Lin has appeared in four preseason games in Byron Scott's offense, and has looked to have a solid command. He is averaging 8.8 assists per-36 minutes in his preseason action, and gives this team an element of off-the-dribble creativity that might be sorely lacking if Kobe's athleticism is missing. Lin is going 74th on average in CBSSports.com leagues, and that number should only creep up now that there are no real roadblocks to him getting 30-plus minutes per game."
Lin should be considered a top-30 guard in all Fantasy formats at this point, and he could be good for 15 points and 6 assists per game this season.

Lakers PG Jeremy Lin does light running Wednesday
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(10/15/14) Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin has begun light running as part of his recovery from an ankle injury sustained in practice Saturday.
Lin is hoping to return to game action Sunday against visiting Utah.
|Last season in Houston, he was one of the better backup point guards for Fantasy, but this year Jeremy Lin will get the chance to shine again as a starter for the Lakers. You probably shouldn't expect Linsanity Part II considering he'll have Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle to share with, but he'll probably come pretty close to the 18.2 points and 7.7 assists he averaged as a starter during that magical 25-game run in New York. The way he navigates driving lanes will likely work well with Randle's bowling-ball-esque post game, so many of Lin's assists will probably come from a two-man game with the Lakers' first round big man. Los Angeles waived Kendall Marshall, and the only other point guard on the roster is Steve Nash, who only appeared in 15 games last season. You can probably wait to draft Lin after point guards like Brandon Jennings and Jrue Holiday, but because the Lakers lack playmakers, Lin could easily match or even exceed their production. Getting Lin in the middle rounds will probably look like a steal by year's end.
