Cavaliers PG Kyrie Irving refuses to let hard play get best of him

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/24/15) Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving has reacted defiantly to the aggressive play of the Celtics during their playoff series that seems to have targeted him.

That physicality was displayed in Game 3 when Boston forward Jonas Jerebko horse-collared him to the floor in the second quarter. Irving refused to allow his emotions to get the best of him. He remained composed, but became more determined.

"My thought process and my killer mindset is that I'm just going to kill you even more now," Irving told the Northeast Ohio Media Group. "If I lose my composure it's not a good look. It's not something that's in my DNA. Don't get me wrong. I ain't no soft dude, but in the game of basketball, [expletive] happens. So you just continue to play."

Irving did not play as well in Boston as he did in two brilliant performances in Cleveland to open the series. He finished with 13 points on just 3-of-11 shooting and added six assists.

Despite big Game 1, Cavs' Kyrie Irving sees room for improvement

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(4/21/15) In his first-career playoff game on Sunday, guard Kyrie Irving was the standout player for the Cavaliers in their Game 1 victory over the Celtics, scoring a game-high 30 points, but said afterwards there's room for improvement, reports Cleveland.com.

"Just limit all my mistakes is the biggest thing, just continue to have that attitude," said. "I'm going to do whatever it takes to win ... As well as you think you play, there are so many things you can improve on."

LeBron James added that he's always had confidence in Irving in important games.

"I knew how special the kid was and I know how special he is now still. He's going to be very key to our success," James said.

Cavs G Kyrie Irving scored 30 in win over Celtics

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(4/19/15) Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving dropped 30 points in Sunday's 113-100 Game 1 win over the Celtics.

Irving went 11 of 21 from the field, which included going 5 for 9 from behind the arc. He went 3 for 5 from the free-throw line. He tallied three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 41 minutes of playing time.

This was the first postseason game Irving has participated in during his career.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving not concerned about hip injury

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/17/15) Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving said he wasn't worried about the sore right hip that bothered him at the end of the regular season.

"No. No. It's not any concern," Irving said, per Cleveland.com. "I feel pretty good right now."

"I thought he was fine in the last game Wednesday against Washington, with limited minutes of course," head coach David Blatt agreed. "And he looked great in practice today. So I believe he'll be 100 percent come Sunday."

Cavs will rest LeBron James on Wednesday; Kyrie Irving will play

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(4/15/15) Cavaliers coach David Blatt said forward LeBron James will sit out the team's final regular-season game Wednesday against the Wizards in order to rest, reports the Northeast Ohio Media Group.

Although James will rest, guard Kyrie Irving will be available to play Wednesday. Irving is dealing with a hip injury, but Blatt said he is feeling better.

The Cavaliers have already clinched the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Cavaliers are 8-point favorites.
