Kanter goes under the knife: Jazz center Enes Kanter wwill have season-ending surgery on his left shoulder, the team announced Tuesday. Kanter has been out since March 27 due to a dislocation in the shoulder, and he is expected to be ready for the start of next season. Its the best thing to do for him, to make sure longterm-wise that he will be healthy, Utah coach Tyrone Corbin told NBA.com. Hes a young guy thats going to be in this league for quite a while and hes going to be a big part of what we do here. Were gonna miss him. (Updated 4/9/13) |

Shoulder - Out for season (Updated - 4/17/13) |
| Fantasy Analysis |
Kanter showed flashes of his ability in his second season, and the Jazz have some tough decisions to make regarding the future of their frontcourt. If the team opts to allow Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap to leave in free agency, Kanter's role on the team would increase dramatically. He finishes the season averaging 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds, however he put up 20.5 points and 15.0 rebounds in a pair of starts. Kanter should be fine by the beginning of next season, and remains an intriguing upside play in many Fantasy formats. (Updated 4/9/13). |
| Once again, playing time could be the biggest obstacle Enes Kanter faces this season. Kanter, a promising 6-foot-11 brute entering his second season in the NBA, is blocked in the middle by starting center Al Jefferson for the Jazz. Complicating matters further, Utah still has Paul Millsap to slide into the paint and young forward/center Derrick Favors needs ample minutes to maintain his development. Katner topped 20 minutes in a game only seven times during his rookie year as he averaged just 13.2 minutes per night. Despite being an imposing figure in the paint, there were concerns with Kanter's athleticism as he managed just 4.2 rebounds per game and his defense produced a total of 23 blocks in 66 games. But he is still just 20 years old the Jazz can be patient with his transition after playing primarily overseas. Unfortunately, Fantasy owners don't have the same luxury and should view Kanter as a late-round reserve option in drafts for deeper leagues as he's projected to be buried on the depth chart.
