Bulls PF Mirotic sets season mark with 27 points Friday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12/19/14) Bulls emerging power forward Nikola Mirotic has been providing consistent production of late, but he outdid himself Friday in Memphis.

The rookie came off the bench to score a season-high 27 points on 7 of 10 shooting and added eight rebounds. He is now averaging 8.1 points per game.

Nikola Mirotic a fine Fantasy fill-in

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/1/14) Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic is thriving in Taj Gibson's absence,  and Fantasy owners are starting to take notice. Mirotic has seen his ownership grow to 38 percent of CBSSports.com leagues, but should we expect this to continue?

Gibson is still out indefinitely with an ankle injury, but that doesn't mean Mirotic is assured of a role for a while. Indefinitely is left intentionally vague, since the team simply doesn't know when Gibson will return. He has missed parts of the last five games, and Mirotic has responded by averaging 12.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in that span.

The good news is that Mirotic looks like a fantastic player who can fill in whenever the Bulls need him, which should come in handy. Gibson has been remarkably healthy, missing just one game over the previous two seasons, but the Bulls also have Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah, who have missed plenty of time recently. Mirotic is worth owning as a bench piece in category-based Fantasy leagues, but will only be worth starting when one of the three players ahead of him goes down for an extended period.

Bulls PF Nikola Mirotic paces offense with 24-11 line vs. Blazers

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/22/14) Bulls power forward Nikola Mirotic exploded for a season-high 24 points on 7 of 14 shooting, including 4 of 7 shooting from three-point range, while grabbing 11 rebounds in his team's 105-87 loss to the Blazers Friday.

Mirotic hadn't scored more than 12 points in a game coming into Friday but doubled his previous high, leading his team in scoring while playing a team-high 35 minutes off the bench. His big workload was in part due to an ankle sprain suffered by starting power forward Taj Gibson. Mirotic also kicked in two assists in the loss, his team's third in its last four games. The Bulls will look to bounce back Monday in Utah.

Bulls' Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic continue to impress Tuesday

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/5/14) Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau continues to be impressed with the play of young forwrads Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic. Both played combined for 20 points off the bench in Chicago's 98-90 victory over the Magic on Tuesday.

''I keep saying it over and over about (Mirotic) and Doug: I love them both,'' Thibodeau said, per the Associated Press.

McDermott shot 4 of 6 from the floor, including 1 of 2 from downtown, and 3 of 3 from downtown. He finished with 12 points and one rebounds in 12 minutes of game action. Mirotic scored eight points on 2 of 5 shooting from the field, including 2 of 4 from behind the arc, and 2 of 2 from the charity stripe. He added six rebounds, four assists and one steal while logging 23 minutes of game action.

Bulls impressed with Nikola Mirotic in training camp

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/2/14) Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters he's impressed with the way forward Nikola Mirotic has adjusted through the first few days of training camp, per the team's official website. Mirotic spent the previous seven seasons before the Bulls bought out the remainder of his contract.

"The thing that I really like about his game is he knows when to shoot and he knows when to pass," Thibodeau said. "He doesn't force things. When he's open, he shoots. If you’re closing at him hard, he’ll put it down on the floor. If he’s guarded well, he’ll make a play. Usually when a guy plays like that, the team will function well. Knowing your job and doing your job, those things are critical to winning."
