Turkoglu likely finished in Orlando: Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu appeared in just 11 games this season, due to a combination of injuries and a league-mandated suspension, and it appears his days with the team are over. Prior to Wednesday's finale against Miami, Turkoglu told the Orlando Sentinel that he would be surprised if the team opts to bring him back next season. "I'd be surprised, man. I would be really surprised. It's not like something that I'll take personal at all," he said. "Sometimes, the business of basketball makes certain things happen. One of them is the way they're trying to get a new team, a new rebuilding situation. You have plenty of players in that position [at small forward]. I would love to [return], but I just don't see any reason for [them doing] it." Turkoglu is under contract for next season, but only half of the $12 million he is owed is guaranteed.

| Fantasy Analysis |
Turkoglu should not have much trouble finding work at the end of someone's bench next season, but it would be a surprise if he is used in anything more than a reserve role. Turkoglu is 34 and coming off a season in which he averaged just 2.9 points per game, so he will have to prove he is worthy of anything more. Turkoglu will not be a recommended Fantasy target on Draft Day next season.

| Hedo Turkoglu's return to Orlando has not gone according to plan as he once again struggled to re-gain his Fantasy relevancy last season. The 33-year-old averaged just 10.9 points in 53 games last year -- his lowest scoring output since his last season in Sacramento with the Kings back in the 2003-04 campaign. He was able to chip in with 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game, but once again struggled to knock down shots. Turkoglu shot just 41 percent from the field last season, including just 35.3 percent from downtown, which is the lowest mark since his rookie campaign. While Turkoglu will once again enter the season as the team's starting small forward, there isn't much reason to think he show any type of drastic improvement. The days of the veteran flirting with 15-20 points per game seem to be long gone and he also has struggled to stay on the court over the last two seasons due to back issues. While a 10-4-3 statline isn't much to get excited about, the fact that he will once again see starter minutes will keep him relevant in deeper formats heading into the season. Fantasy owners should consider Turkoglu worthy of a late-round pick heading into next year. (Updated 8/22/12) |
