Jae Crowder getting his chance
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(1/13/15) New Celtics forward Jae Crowder has been an interesting Fantasy prospect since entering the league, but he has never really gotten the chance to show it in big minutes. Now that he's getting the opportunity in Boston, should Fantasy owners take note?
Crowder was integrated into the Celtics' rotation slowly, playing 20-plus minutes just once in his first seven games. He has reached that mark four times in five games since, and now looks like a fixture of the starting lineup, where he has spent three straight games. He is averaging 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocks in his three starts since the team traded Jeff Green, and is someone worth looking at in category-based leagues right now.
If you have an extra roster spot at the end of your bench, taking a flier on Crowder right now is a smart move. He is still owned in just 22 percent of CBSSports.com leagues, and might not have much value in H2H scoring leagues, but take a chance on him while he is getting minutes.
Celtics' Jae Crowder scores career-high 22 points in win Monday
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(1/12/15) Celtics forward Jae Crowder scored a career-high 22 points on 9 of 14 shooting in Boston's 108-100 win over the Pelicans Monday.
It was the first time in his career he had reached 20 points. Coach Brad Stevens said after the game Crowder is working very hard to find his shot.
"One of the things I've noticed is he has a really deliberate way about his work. Doesn’t surprise me he’s making shots," Stevens said.
Crowder also added four steals, three rebounds and three assists on the night.
Celtics sticking with Jae Crowder in the starting lineup Saturday
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(1/10/15) Celtics coach Brad Stevens is going to keep small forward Jae Crowder in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Raptors.
"He gives us a physical presence at the 3. This is a tough, hard-nosed team to play against," Stevens said.
It will be the second straight game Crowder will start for Boston. He scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds Friday against the Pacers.
Celtics will not have recently acquired players active Friday
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(12/19/14) Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters newly acquired players Brandan Wright, Jameer Nelson and Jae Crowder will not be active for Friday’s game against the Timberwolves, reports ESPN.
Their next opportunity to play will be Sunday at Miami.
|The Mavericks might need more help from the young, athletic small forward this season, but Jae Crowder is probably still a year or two away from Fantasy relevance. Dallas brought in Chandler Parsons and Richard Jefferson, so even if they're without Shawn Marion and Vince Carter this year, Crowder's spot in the pecking order will likely remain the same. Keep an eye on his three-point shooting and rebounding for Rotisserie leagues when you need help later on in the year, but go ahead and ignore Crowder on Draft Day.
