|Brian Roberts takes over for Pelicans |
|by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com|
(11/5/13) Pelicans point guard Brian Roberts had a big game off the bench Tuesday during a loss to Phoenix. The backup PG played 30 minutes and scored 17 points.
With Jrue Holiday struggling with his shot, Roberts made up for it going 7 of 14 from the field and 3 for 6 from beyond the arc. He added one rebound, five assists and three steals.
The 27-year-old Roberts saw his biggest playing time of the season Tuesday with Holiday struggling and he took full advantage. He's scored 30 points in the last two games on 5 for 8 from 3-point range.
|Pelicans happy with Robert's rookie campaign |

(5/5/13) While his numbers didn't garner much attention, Pelicans general manager Dell Demps was happy with Brian Roberts' production during his rookie campaign. Roberts played in 78 games this season -- five starts -- and averaged 7.1 points and 2.8 assists on 41.7 percent shooting from the field. He also averaged 15.2 points over the final four games of the year. "The thing that excited me the most about him was his effort on the defensive end,'' Demps told the Times-Picayune. "That was really never asked of him before. He really took the challenge on. We think he has a bright future and he definitely was one of the pleasant surprises this season.''
