Pelicans happy with Robert's rookie campaign: While his numbers didn't garner much attention, Pelicans general manager Dell Demps was happy with Brian Roberts' production during his rookie campaign. Roberts played in 78 games this season -- five starts -- and averaged 7.1 points and 2.8 assists on 41.7 percent shooting from the field. He also averaged 15.2 points over the final four games of the year. "The thing that excited me the most about him was his effort on the defensive end,'' Demps told the Times-Picayune. "That was really never asked of him before. He really took the challenge on. We think he has a bright future and he definitely was one of the pleasant surprises this season.''

| Fantasy Analysis |
Roberts spent the last three seasons playing in Germany but was able to secure a spot with the then Hornets after having a strong showing in the summer league and in training camp. The 27-year-old did show some flashes of his potential, but the fact that he played behind Greivis Vasquez limited his minutes most nights. Roberts can also play some two-guard, which he may end up doing more of next year if the Pelicans decided not to bring back Eric Gordon. While it is hard not to root for a overlooked guy like Roberts, we don't envision a ton of scenarios that would net him much Fantasy value heading into the 2013-14 season. However, he could prove to be a solid waiver-wire addition if he continues to see consistent minutes in coach Monty Williams' rotation again.
