76ers coach Brett Brown: Tony Wroten 'on track, doing well'
|by CBSSports.com Staff | CBSSports.com|
|(3/17/15) 76ers coach Brett Brown said guard Tony Wroten's rehab on his right knee is on schedule, but his return is not imminent, according to Philly.com.
“No great news,” Brown said. “No new news, just on track, doing well ... We are getting more organized with him. But he’s in great spirits and we look forward to welcoming him back. That will be not for a long time.”
Initially reported as a sprained knee, Wroten partially tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against the Hawks on Jan. 13. Wroten remains the Sixers’ leading scorer at 16.9 points per game.

Brown was unable to provide an update on how the surgery went Tuesday.
His season finished averaging 16.9 points and 5.2 assists in 30 games.

|(1/28/15) 76ers guard Tony Wroten said Wednesday that he will undergo surgery on the partially torn ACL in his knee, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.
Wroten indicated Tuesday that he was still weighing his options after meeting with specialists, but he has decided to undergo the third operation on his right knee. He'll be sidelined for the remainder of the season as he recovers.
Wroten averaged 16.9 points and 5.2 assists in 30 games.
76ers guard Tony Wroten meeting with specialists, weighing options
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(1/27/15) 76ers guard Tony Wroten is weighing his options after meeting with specialists regarding his partially torn ACL, per CSNPhilly.com.
"I have been seeing a lot of doctors and getting a lot of different opinions," Wroten said. "I am just putting a lot of pieces together and figuring out my next steps.
"A partial tear is so different than a torn ACL. It is not a guarantee, 100 percent, that I have to have surgery. It is a tough decision, an important decision that I want to make. I want to talk it over with Sam Hinkie and the doctors."
If Wroten does have surgery, it will be the third operation on his right knee.
"I would rather have that than it continue to be different knees," he said. "It is just a part of the game. It isn't something that they can't fix. It isn't something I can't recover from."
Sixers guard Tony Wroten tears ACL, season in jeopardy
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(1/23/15) 76ers guard Tony Wroten has suffered a torn ACL in his right knee and his status for the remainder of the season is unknown, the team announced Friday.
Wroten suffered the partially torn ACL during Jan. 16's game against the Pelicans. The injury will require surgery to repair the ligament in his knee.
"Until the procedure takes place, we are unable to provide a specific timeline for his return to play," the team said in a press release.
Wroten was averaging a team-high 16.9 points with 5.2 assists in 30 games this season.
|If we've learned one thing about Tony Wroten over the last two seasons it's that he can produce when he gets the opportunity. He may not be the 76ers' point guard of the future, but the 22-year-old once again put up huge numbers when he got the chance to start last season. He averaged 18.3 points and 6.3 assists in 15 starts in 2014-15, before a torn ACL ended his season in January. With Michael Carter-Williams out of the picture for good, Wroten has a chance to lock down the starting point guard role, which could make him a starting Fantasy option. However, he will have to compete with Isaiah Canaan and Pierre Jackson for the job, and that may not be decided until the season starts. He may not be perfect, but Wroten should be worth a late-round flier in most Fantasy leagues based on what he has done as a starter over the last two seasons.
