|(7/12/14) Free agent guard Vince Carter is jumping from one Western Conference playoff team to another, after he agreed to terms on a three-year deal with the Grizzlies Friday.
According to multiple media reports, Carter will sign a three-year deal worth $12.2 million with the Grizzlies. ESPN.com reports the Mavericks offered Carter a two-year deal worth $8 million to return, but could not officially make that offer with their cap space tied up in other offers.
Carter had a solid age-37 season, averaging 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 24.4 minutes per game.
Vince Carter still chipping in from bench
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(3/26/14) Mavericks guard Vince Carter continues to contribute off the bench, as he recorded his fourth double-digit scoring game in a row Tuesday against the Thunder.
Carter scored 16 points on 4 of 11 shooting, with all of his makes coming from three-point range. He also went to 4 for 6 from the free-throw line, while adding five rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block, though he also turned the ball over four times in 26 minutes in the 128-119 overtime win.
Carter is enjoying another solid season off the bench for the Mavericks, averaging 11.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, while appearing in 71 of the first 72 games of the season.
Vince Carter scores 17 points vs. Pelicans

|(2/26/14) Mavericks guard Vince Carter scored 17 points on 6 of 9 shooting in 22 minutes off the bench in his team's 108-89 win over the Pelicans Wednesday.
Carter has put together a nice three-game stretch, scoring at least 17 points in three straight games for the first time this season. He also kicked in two rebounds, two assists and one steal Wednesday. Carter has averaged 11.7 points and 3.5 rebounds over 58 games played.
Vince Carter drills seven treys in win over Knicks
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(2/24/14) Mavericks guard Vince Carter caught fire from behind the arc, knocking down seven treys in a vintage performance against the Knicks Monday night.
Thee of Carter's treys came in the opening period. He scored 23 points on 8 of 17 from the floor, including 7 of 12 from 3-point land. He also contributed with three rebounds, three assists and one block while logging 26 minutes of game action. He is averaging 14.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists over his last five games.
|There's no such thing as a designated hitter in basketball, but Vince Carter might be the closest for comparison's sake. He enjoyed a career renaissance with Dallas the past two seasons, only missing two out of 164 games while averaging 12.7 points per game on 40 percent from three. He got a new contract in Memphis this season, but his role will probably remain the same -- a bombs-away three-point shooter off the bench. Mike Miller didn't quite do enough in that role for the Grizzlies last season to be Fantasy relevant, but Carter offers a bit more. He's turned into an OK rebounder and defender, and he'll muscle his way to the free throw line every now and then. Because Memphis ranked near the bottom in three pointers, Carter should be worth a mid-to-late round pick in Rotisserie leagues and a late-round flier in points leagues.
