Harrington's best days are behind him, and it's unlikely many Fantasy owners will count on him again. Keep an eye on what happens with Harrington after this year, but he has a lot to prove before he will be Fantasy relevant in the majority of leagues going forward. (Updated 4/10/13). |
| Al Harrington was one of the 12 players involved in the Dwight Howard mega-deal and now finds himself in Orlando as a member of the Magic. While this will be the veteran's sixth different franchise he will wear a uniform for, he is coming off a solid bounce-back season with the Nuggets last year. After really struggling his first season in Denver, Harrington was able to re-discover his shooting touch during the 2011-12 campaign as he made 44.6 percent of his shots from the field, which helped him average 14.2 points and 6.1 rebounds over the 61 games he appeared. He averaged 27.6 minutes per game and will now fight for minutes with Glen Davis and rookie Andrew Nicholson at power forward, albeit he will likely end up coming off the bench. However, Harrington did undergo knee surgery in the offseason and may not be ready by the time training camp rolls around. While he was a perfect fit as a stretch power forward in Denver's fast-paced offense, things likely won't be as fluid as the Magic appear to be in full-rebuilding mode entering the season. Just based on the fact that the Magic will play at a slower pace will likely result in a slight decrease in production for the 32-year-old and he could wind up being dealt again at some point prior to the trade deadline. Still, Harrington's unique ability to shoot from the outside as well as score inside and rebound make him a worthy late round target in most formats heading into next season. His ability to knock down 3s also makes him a bit more valuable in category-based formats. (Updated 8/22/12) |
