Suns establishing platoon system for Miles Plumlee and Alex Len
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(11/22/14) Suns coach Jeff Hornacek told reporters he would like to keep Miles Plumlee's and Alex Len's minutes relatively even at center. Hornacek added that he'd like to form a platoon system that plays each center five to six minutes at a time, according to the Arizona Republic.
"That's about their limit," Hornacek said. "Once they hit that, they start to tail down a little bit because we ask them to do a lot in terms of running the court for a big guy."
Plumlee has started all 13 games for Phoenix this season, averaging 5.9 points and 6.4 rebounds in 24.2 minutes per contest. Len has logged 19.0 minutes per contest and has averaged 6.2 points and 5.1 boards over that span.
Suns center Alex Len ready to make push for starting job?
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(11/19/14) Suns backup center Alex Len has recorded a career high in points in consecutive games and even contributed a double-double in Saturday's game against the Clippers. He's averaged 27.5 minutes over his last two games and appears to be making a push for Miles Plumlee's starting job, according to The Arizona Republic.
"Alex had another great game (against Boston)," coach Jeff Hornacek said of Len, who scored a career-high 19 points in 29 minutes Monday. "He's active. He's got a good feel of where to be on the court. His length has an effect on guys inside. He was huge."
General manager Ryan McDonough faced a lot of scrutiny last year for drafting Len over the likes of Nerlens Noel and Ben McLemore. Len's rookie season was marred by ankle injuries, but now he is beginning to show his potential.
"I really felt bad for Alex a year ago," McDonough said. "As people tend to do in our society, there was a rush to judgment way too quickly on who he was as a player and what he could become. He's very mobile for his size, and now that he's healthy, he has his agility back. And he's gotten a lot stronger."

|(11/16/14) Suns center Alex Len scored a season-high 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting while grabbing 11 rebounds in his team's 120-107 loss to the Clippers Saturday.
Len found his stroke in the loss, taking more than six shots for the first time this season and stil maintaining an elite shooting percentage. He also recorded one assist, one steal and one block in 26 minutes of action. The Suns move on to face off with the Celtics Monday.
Suns C Alex Len plays 19 minutes in opener
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(10/30/14) Suns center Alex Len scored just three points on 1 of 4 shooting but played 19 minutes in the team's 119-99 win over the Lakers in Wednesday's regular-season opener.
Len, who had his option picked up by the Suns yesterday, fractured his finger during the preseason but was able to make it back to the court in time for the regular-season opener. He also chipped in five rebounds and one block in the win. The Suns are set to face the Spurs Friday.
|This guy just cannot catch a break. Maybe that's a poor choice of words considering Alex Len came into the league recovering from ankle surgeries last year. Then, broke his pinky at the Las Vegas Summer League this offseason, but it seems Len will still need developmental minutes before he's ready for a large role with the Suns. It's safe to leave him off draft boards outside of deep leagues.
