|Nerlens Noel needs 'total rebuild' of shot |
|by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com|
(11/6/13) Philadelphia 76ers center Nerlens Noel, who still does not expect to play this season after ACL surgery, apparently has a lot to work on for his game, the Delco Daily Times reports. Coach Brett Brown said Noel needs a "total rebuild" of his shot mechanics.
"We're really trying to go back to a lot of one-handed shooting," said Brown. "I can sense [Noel] is shooting with two hands behind my back. What happens is the off-hand comes in and the elbows start coming out. When he goes one-handed, he gets the elbow under it and he gets a good-looking shot. He can't get his guide hand on the ball. It just sends it all over the place."
|Nerlens Noel not expected to play this year |

(10/21/13) Philadelphia coach Brett Brown reiterated Monday that he does not believe center Nerlens Noel will play this season following knee surgery, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
The 76ers want to take it easy on Noel and he will likely not have an established timetable to return for some time. Noel may not debut until the 2014-15 season at this point.
|Noel unlikely to make debut until '14 |

(7/25/13) When the 76ers acquired center Nerlens Noel out of the University of Kentucky in a Draft Day trade with the Pelicans, they knew he would miss a significant chunk of his rookie season recovering from knee surgery. Now that he has met with the organization's key members, a timeline for his return from a torn ACL is starting to become clear. According to The News Journal, Noel is likely to be out until the end of the 2013 calendar year at the earlier, and general manager Sam Hinkie stressed that he will not be rushed at the possible expense of his long-term health. Nothing else matters as much as that matters, Hinkie said. So as this plays out, we will give him all the resources necessary and all the best medical people we can put in front of him, both here and in Birmingham [Ala.], where hes been doing his rehab, to try to get him back on the floor, to be the best player he can be for himself and for the Sixers.
|Fantasy owners know they are drafting potential when they consider grabbing Nerlens Noel on Draft Day. The No. 6 overall pick in the NBA draft is likely to start at center for the 76ers, if not at first, before long. The injury concerns coming off a torn ligament in his knee will obviously be a concern, but the center is wearing No. 5 to signify how many teams passed him up in the draft and definitely brings a chip on his shoulder to the court. Noel has incredible upside after averaging 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and blocking 106 shots over less than one full year with Kentucky in college. If anything, Noel could find himself a Fantasy stud in rebounds and blocking shots, even if he struggles to score. Spencer Hawes will be around for Philadelphia to lean on while the rookie learns the ropes, but Noel will be unleashed and should be grabbed with at least a sleeper pick in the later rounds on Draft Day.
