Hornets provide updates on injuries to Kidd-Gilchrist, Biyombo
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(2/8/15) The Hornets announced an MRI taken on Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's right hamstring revealed a hamstring strain and he has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Pacers and Tuesday's game against the Pistons. He will be reevaluated after the All-Star break. Guard Jeff Taylor will start in Sunday's game in place of Kidd-Gilchrist.
Meanwhile, an MRI confirmed center Bismack Biyombo is still dealing with a knee bruise. He last played Jan. 24 and is expected to miss at least the next two weeks. Center Cody Zeller should see his role increase while Biyombo is sidelined.
The Hornets are 2-point underdogs to the Pacers.
Hornets C Cody Zeller scores career-high 21 vs. Nuggets
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(1/31/15) Hornets center Cody Zeller scored a career-high 21 points on 10 of 11 shooting in his team's 104-86 win over the Nuggets Saturday.
Zeller doesn't normally score in double digits, with his last game of 10 points or more coming when he scored 20 during an 8-for-8 shooting performance in early January. He delivered another efficient performance Saturday to help lead his team to a road win in Denver. Zeller also racked up eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in 35 minutes. He'll match up with the Wizards Monday.
Cody Zeller, P.J. Hairston ready to return for Hornets
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(1/10/15) The Hornets announced forward Cody Zeller (shoulder) and guard P.J. Hairston (illness) will play in Saturday's contest against the Knicks.
Zeller missed Thursday's game against the Raptors -- his first game missed in his career. He is averaging 8.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Hairston also missed Thursday's game. He is averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 26 games this year.
Meanwhile, Al Jefferson (groin), Lance Stephenson (pelvic) and Jannero Pargo (back) will remain sidelined.
Charlotte is an 8-point road favorite at Madison Square Garden.
Hornets' Cody Zeller, P.J. Hairston questionable for Saturday
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(1/9/15) Hornets forward Cody Zeller and guard P.J. Hairston are listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Knicks, the team has announced.
Zeller missed Thursday's game against the Raptors with a right shoulder injury. It was the first game he has missed in his career. He is averaging 8.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Hairston is dealing with an illness. He also missed Thursday's game because of the sickness. Hairston is averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 26 games this year.
|Cody Zeller appeared in every game for the Bobcats as a rookie, but struggled to make much of a consistent impact as he transitioned to the NBA game. He averaged just 6.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while shooting a putrid 42.6 percent from the field. The Hornets drafted Noah Vonleh with the No. 9 overall pick this offseason, so he could push Zeller for playing time even if Zeller inherits the starting job left vacant by the departure of Josh McRoberts. Zeller has some upside, but the Hornets don't have much room for him to step up into a huge role on offense. Given his struggles, Zeller is best left undrafted in most Fantasy formats.
