Nets SG Markel Brown says team wants him to play the point
|by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer|
|(6/4/15) Nets shooting guard Markel Brown is entering his second NBA season. The 23-year-old is spending the offseason preparing to play a new role for the Nets, per netsdaily.com.
Brown is preparing to contribute more by expanding to the point guard position.
"All the coaches know I'm a solid defender, but they want to see me go out there and score the ball," Brown said. "They want to see me do it on both ends. Even though they know I can score, I didn't try to do too much my rookie season. But going into next season, they want me to help contribute more for the team. My goal for the offseason is to get in the gym, score the ball and be able to handle the point guard spot."
Brown averaged 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 47 games as a rookie last season.

|(4/22/15) Nets coach Lionel Hollins said Wednesday that shooting guard Bojan Bogdanovic will draw the start over rookie Markel Brown in Game 2 against the Hawks, the New York Daily News reports.
Brown was the starter at shooting guard in the team's Game 1 loss, but played only the first 5:35 of the game before hitting the bench for the remainder of the contest. Bogdanovic scored five points in 32 minutes off the bench in Game 1.
Bogdanovic averaged 9.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 78 games during the regular season. The Nets are 9 1/2-point underdogs in Atlanta Wednesday.
Nets may move SG Bojan Bogdanovic into starting lineup
|by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer|
|(4/20/15) After dropping the first game of their playoff series against the Hawks with rookie shooting guard Markel Brown in the lineup, the Nets may make a chance for Game 2, with Bojan Bogdanovic likely moving into the starting five, per Newsday.
Brown played the first 5:35 and scored four points, but did not return to the contest, with Bogdanovic and Alan Anderson logging most of the minutes at the two spot.
"Bogey is really the starter," Nets coach Lionel Hollins said. "And Markel, I play him to get some experience and some minutes. And usually, if he's playing better, he gets to play in the second half. If he's not, then I stick with the guy who's the starter."
Nets guard Markel Brown increases production with more minutes
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(4/2/15) Along with receiving more playing time, Nets guard Markel Brown has also seen his production increase over the last three games.
Brown has played 30 or more minutes in the last three games and has scored in double digits in each of those games. Coach Lionel Hollins said Brown has been playing well, which is why his minutes increased, reports the New York Post.
"It's all a part of utilizing the group we have," Hollins said. "It's nothing personal. It doesn't have to do with anybody playing poorly. It's the way I see it. It's part of my job, and I have to be the final decision on it."
