Pistons' Spencer Dinwiddie scores 20 in 21 minutes Saturday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(2/28/15) Pistons point guard Spencer Dinwiddie scored a season-high 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting in just 21 minutes in Saturday's 99-95 loss to the Wizards.
Outside of filling in for coach Stan Van Gundy after the trade deadline when the team was managing with a depleted roster, Dinwiddie has seen sparse action this season. However, starting point guard Reggie Jackson struggled for a second consecutive night, allowing Dinwiddie to play more than 20 minutes for just the second time this season.
"He was terrific," Van Gundy said after the game, per the Associated Press. "He was playing too well (to take out). He was making a lot of plays and stayed on the attack. Outstanding game."
Dinwiddie also chipped in seven assists, four rebounds and one steal in the loss, the team's third straight. They'll look to put an end to the losing streak Wednesday in New Orleans.
Pistons' Spencer Dinwiddie nears double-double in win Friday
|by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com|
|(2/20/15) Pistons point guard Spencer Dinwiddie wasn't even suppose to be on the roster this week. Instead, he drew the start Friday against the Bulls after D.J. Augustin was traded before Thursday's trade deadline.
"He was supposed to be going to Grand Rapids to play two D-League games this week, and now he's starting against Derrick Rose. That's a pretty big difference," coach Stan Van Gundy said.
Dinwiddie scored 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting from the field and dished out nine assists. He also added three steals to his totals.
"I was getting ready to head to Grand Rapids for the weekend, and then all the crazy stuff started happening at the trade deadline," Dinwiddie said. "I was just trying to keep up with who was going where, and all of a sudden they told me that my plans had changed.
"I thought they meant I had gotten traded, too. Luckily, I just didn't have to go to the D-League."
New Pistons Jackson, Prince ruled out for Friday

|(2/20/15) The Pistons will be without guard Reggie Jackson and forward Tayshaun Prince for Friday night's game against the Bulls, according to the Oakland Press.
Both players were acquired by Detroit just before Thursday's trade deadline.
With Jackson and Prince on the bench, Spencer Dinwiddie will start at point guard and Caron Butler will start at small forward.
Jackson will likely enter the starting lineup for the Pistons on Sunday against the Wizards.
Pistons guard Spencer Dinwiddie still has to earn playing time
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(1/27/15) The season-ending Achilles injury to Brandon Jennings has opened up more playing time for Pistons rookie guard Spencer Dinwiddie. Although, coach Stan Van Gundy said Dinwiddie, who will back up starting point guard D.J. Augustin, will have to earn his playing time.
Dinwiddie has appeared in 10 games this season, while bouncing between the NBA and D-League.
"He made one good move right at the end of his time. Wasn't real aggressive, but he was under control and didn't make mistakes," Van Gundy said, per the team's official website. "I think his confidence will grow as he gets time and experience and we'll probably see more out of him, but he held his own and held the fort for a little bit."
